I don't know about you, but "perfect" would NOT be a word I'd use to describe myself. From my shortcomings to my inconsistencies, I'm anything but perfect!
And that's why I'm so excited about today's post. I may not be perfect, but my Heavenly Father is. In fact, He does everything so perfectly that He can fill in and compensate for my imperfections. There is so much comfort in knowing that He is perfect and that He is perfectly orchestrating and directing my life!
Let's see what Scripture has to say about this amazing attribute:
Deuteronomy 32:4 - "He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He" (NKJV).
2 Samuel 22:31 - "As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lordis proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him" (NKJV).
Matthew 5:48 - "Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect" (NKJV, emphasis added).
I especially love that verse in Matthew because it segues into another astonishing aspect of God's perfection: we will be perfected in Heaven when we join Him for all eternity. And it's all because of Him, not at all because of us.
We serve a perfect God. This should bring so much joy and peace to us as believers!
Today's Assignment: What examples of God's perfection can you find in nature? Even though we live in a fallen world, we can still appreciate the symmetry of many plants and animals, the beautiful Fibonacci sequence (cauliflower, sunflowers, and pine cones are just a few examples), and many other instances that demonstrate the perfection of our Heavenly Father!
